Adolfo de Castro was a great reader of Spanish Golden Age classics, a scholar, a Cervantes expert, and a literary forger. He wrote El buscapié imitating the language of the author of Don Quixote. The work was translated into almost all major languages and was reprinted many times, until Bartolomé José Gallardo exposed the deception.
