Madeleine-Angélique de Gomez, daughter of the actor Paul Poisson (1684-1770), was a French writer and playwright married to a Spanish nobleman, Don Gabriel de Gómez. Her first tragedy, Habis, was launched in 1714 to critical acclaim and was performed at the Comédie-Française in 1732. This prolific writer penned numerous novels and several tragedies. Between 1722 and 1772, she published eight editions of Les Journées amusantes.
