Half-leather binding with raised bands and gilt lettering, red in color, with cloth boards. Paper in good condition, uncut. Ref. Palau 178965. Cipriano Segundo Montesino y Estrada (1817-1901), a Spanish engineer and politician, was a civil engineer, having graduated from the School of Arts and Manufactures in Paris. He had previously been a professor of Mechanics and Physics at the Conservatory of Arts. He was also a member of several national and international scientific societies and served as Director General of Public Works. He was awarded the Grand Cross of Charles III. He represented Spain on the International Commission for the Suez Canal.
