This collection of letters is considered essential for understanding the early years of the Pontevedra Museum and the evolution of the city itself, as well as the concerns of its authors regarding fundamental aspects of Galician culture, as highlighted by the publishers. Cartolatría spans from the first surviving letter, sent from Pontevedra by Filgueira on March 8, 1926, to the last letter sent to him by Sánchez Cantón from Madrid. In total, there are 1,356 letters on a wide variety of topics. The compilation of this correspondence, interrupted during the Civil War, has been possible because the Museum holds the personal archives of its two key figures.
